Tree Step Tips - From Buckmasters and Re-written by Smokepole

Thanks to Tim H. Martin for sharing

1 - Use your climbing stand when setting up LOC-On stands.

2 - Use your safety harness when doing this.

3 - Climb the tree, cut any branches off on the way up (Duh).

4 - Attach the hanging stand and attach your safety line.

5 - Work your way down installing tree steps as you go.

6 - Space the tree steps close enough together so they are easily reachable.

A good rule of thumb for spacing steps is the distance between the tips of your fingers and your elbow, or a little closer. This is the comfortable distance for you to step and reach.

If a shorter hunter will be using the stand, remember to space the steps a little closer.
