Here's One to Try (I know there are a lot of them out there)

Catfish Bait – Doughballs

1 cup – flour

1 cup – cornmeal

1 tin – Sardines (oil)

1 oz – anise extract (bottle)

Mix the flour and cornmeal in a large bowl. Use a fork to break apart the sardines and add to bowl with the juices.

Stir everything so the liquids are absorbed by the dry ingredients.

Add the anise extract and mix well.

Stir in some water, a little at a time, until the mixture has the consistency of Play Doh.

Do not add to much water or the bait will be too thin. It should be thick enough to form into golf-ball-sized pieces.

Drop the doughballs into boiling water and cook 3 mins.

This hardens the pieces so they stay on your hook.

Use a slotted spoon to remove them, drain on paper towels and cool.

The bait is now ready to be used. Store in a plastic container or zip-seal freeze bag.

Impale on a single barbed hook and get ready.
